Songs of Glimmerwick Guide

Settings, controls and accessibility

Quick answer

Full controller support, save-anytime, subtitles, custom volume and colour alternatives are all listed on the store page. Windowed mode and ultrawide support are still unconfirmed at launch.

The store page tags a genuinely useful accessibility feature list, but launch-week questions were all about the small stuff: fullscreen only? ultrawide? can I rebind? Here is what is confirmed, and what nobody has answered yet.

Quick answer

Full controller support, save-anytime, subtitle options, custom volume controls, camera comfort and colour alternatives are all listed by the developers on Steam. Windowed mode is the one thing launch-week players could not find, and ultrawide support is still unanswered on the forums.

Display options

Windowed / borderlessA launch-week player reports fullscreen is the only option they can find
Ultrawide (3440x1440)Unanswered — a forum thread asking about it has no confirmed reply yet
Camera comfortListed on the store page as an accessibility feature

If you need windowed mode for streaming, recording or a second monitor, post it in the Steam forums — the developers read them, and the demo patches were largely player-driven fixes.

Demo patch 0.465 rewrote the default bindings for regional keyboards, and that reset custom keys once. If your bindings changed by themselves during the demo period, that was the patch, not you.

Accessibility features Steam lists

  • Full controller support
  • Playable without timed input
  • Save anytime
  • Subtitle options
  • Custom volume controls
  • Camera comfort
  • Colour alternatives
  • Steam Cloud and Family Sharing

The "playable without timed input" tag matters more than it looks: the music mini-game is optional, the developers say you can skip it entirely, and no song needs a clean run to cast a spell.

What players are still asking for

A launch-week thread asked for two things the game does not have. The first was left-mouse-button movement everywhere — clicking an interactive object already walks you to it, but not every surface responds. The second was an auto-learn option for spells, after the player found two-star ratings frustrating even with the extra help switched on.

That request has a fair chance of being heard. The studio added an extra help layer to the music mini-game in demo patch 0.466 and a tutorial spelling out that no stars are required to cast a spell.

Steam Deck

Valve lists Songs of Glimmerwick as Playable, one step below Verified. Valve's compatibility report notes that the default controller layout is not fully functional and that the game's on-screen controller glyphs do not match the Deck's buttons, so expect to adjust the layout before your first class. Text entry also does not bring up the Deck keyboard on its own, which matters when you name your witch.

The full verdict and caveat list live in the store page's Steam Deck section, and a rating can change at any time. The Steam Deck and languages page covers the eight supported languages.
