Steam Deck and language support
Eight text languages at launch; English is the only fully voiced language. Check the store page badge for Valve's current Steam Deck rating.
Language support is unusually strong for an indie release, and handheld players keep asking about the Steam Deck. Here is the current picture.

Quick answer
Eight text languages at launch; English is the only fully voiced language. Valve's Steam Deck compatibility report lists the game as Playable — not Verified — with a few controller caveats worth reading before you buy for a handheld.
Language support
| Language | Interface / Subtitles | Full audio |
|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Yes |
| French | Yes | — |
| German | Yes | — |
| Russian | Yes | — |
| Japanese | Yes | — |
| Simplified Chinese | Yes | — |
| Portuguese (Brazil) | Yes | — |
| Spanish (Spain) | Yes | — |
Voice acting is complete in English — "every character major and minor", per the store page. Localization updates landed throughout the demo period, and demo patch 0.484 fixed map legend text issues in certain languages.
Steam Deck
Valve lists Songs of Glimmerwick as Playable, one step below Verified. The compatibility report notes that the default controller layout is not fully functional and that the game's on-screen controller glyphs do not match the Deck's buttons — so expect to adjust the layout before your first class. Text entry also does not bring up the Deck keyboard on its own, which matters when you name your witch.
That rating was read from the store page on October 1, 2026 and can change at any time. The live verdict and Valve's full caveat list live in the store page's Steam Deck section, and the settings and accessibility page covers display options and rebinding.
