The university garden
Till with the Song of Tilling, plant early, and cast rain when beds are dry — gardening runs on songs and real time across the game's seasons.
The university garden is your slow-burning economy: plant the mundane, grow the arcane, and let songs do the heavy lifting.

Quick answer
Till with the Song of Tilling, plant early, and let exploration fill the gaps. The garden runs on real time across the game's seasons — it is designed to reward patience, not grinding.
What the garden does
The store copy is specific about the fantasy: "Plant the mundane! Grow the arcane! Summon up clouds to bring forth the rain!" Rain is a spell, not weather you wait for — if the beds are dry, you have work to do with your flute.
Tilling
The Song of Tilling is the first song in the game and the one that opens gardening. Demo patch 0.484 made it easier to play to smooth the mini-game difficulty curve — so if you bounced off it in an early demo build, it plays better now.
Selling what you grow
Produce and clutter both leave your bag at the well in the Botanical Garden — that is the game's sell box, not the shop counters. The village shops are where the money goes back out: seeds, gear, the tailor, the potion supply. The selling items and storage page has the full picture, including what the well refuses to take.
Enchanted tools
One of the store features is worth chasing early: songs can enchant tools to "work all by themselves." Automation is where a large garden stops being a chore — expect these songs to be mid-game unlocks.
Seasonal crops
The game runs a full year of seasons and festivals. Crop-by-crop tables will be published once they are verified in the launch build — before that, treat any crop calendar you see elsewhere as unconfirmed.
